CNN Student News (9/30)

Many times a year there are recalls for containmated food. This month there has been meat and.....cantaloupes. The cantaloupes have been contaminated with a bacteria called lysteria. This bacteria has caused 13 deaths and 70 people to be sick. I think that it's horrible the heath people or whoever checks the produce missed the bacteria because if they hadn't there wouldnt be any deaths. I think its good that they caught it this soon though because they have prevented even more deaths. I dont support the bacteria obviously but I do support the recall.

In August of this year an earthquake hit Washington and cracked the Washington Monument. The monument is a little over 555ft. tall so if it cracks it has a big chance of the crack becoming bigger and eventually breaking and falling. Workers were working on it to make sure that there were no cracks and no problems with it. I think this is a good idea just to be extra sure that it doesnt fall or break. I support this because the Washington Monument is special to people living in Washington and other parts of the U.S. And we dont want to see it break and fall because that would be tragic.

Today I am writing about the death penalty. On Wednesday night Troy Davis had been on the death peanlty for 20 years and his life ended Wednesday night. Davis was accused of the murdering a savannah off-duty police officer. The police officer was helping a homeless man at the time and was shot 5 times. Through the years all the wittness have changed their stories The court ignored his last appeal and was killed wendesday night. Hundreds of protectors lined up outside of the jail the night he was going to be killed and demanded for him to be freed. I sometimes support the death peanlty, it just depends in the case and if I think the person is reLly guilty. I fell sad for the people who get killed but on the other hang I feel like like they deserve it so I don't feel sad.

Kangaroo Leather Soccer Cleats vs. Plastic Soccer Cleats
        Many people havae dissagreed for years as to which is better, kangaroo leather soccer cleats or plastic soccer cleats. I personaly use and think kangaroo leather soccer cleats are better for the foot and are much more comfortable then hard plastic. In this essay I will pursuade you that leather cleats are better then plastic cleats.
       Kangaroo leather cleats are by far the most used in professional soccer. They are so popular because they are light weight, break in fast, they're strong but flexible, comfortable, and you get good ball feel because they are so flexible. They break in so fast you can wear them right after you buy them without getting blisters. With plastic cleats most people will get blisters when they're breaking them in. The most popular, best selling, kangaroo leather soccer cleat is the Adidas Copa Mundial. It was first made for the 1982 World Cup and has been the best selling leather soccer cleat ever since.
       Plastic soccer cleats are terrible. They hurt the foot because they don't mold to the feet like kangaroo leather cleats do. With kangaroo leather you are able to break in the cleat in one day and can even wear them right out of the box without your feet hurting, but with plastic it takes minimum 4 days to fully break in the cleats and they hurt your  feet very badly. I couldn't find one website that said anything good about plastic cleats but I found plenty about kangaroo leather.
      I know kangaroo leather soccer cleats are 100% better then plastic cleats. All my facts support my speech.

Yesterday, 9/12/11, we didnt have a choice of what to write about because the whole brodcast was about the 9/11 rememberance memorial. I support the memorial and I think it was a really good idea to make it. It remembers all the fathers, mothers, uncles, aunts, sisters, and brothers who died as heros and innocent civilians. I feel privillaged to live in an amazing country like ours and for all of us to come together 10 years after 9/11 and commerate the fallen is an inspirational thing.

The part I chose to write about is the U.S flooding in the northeast. The majority of the flooding is from Irene but with tropical depression Lee the flooding become even more imense. 10,000's of people have been told to evacuate and at least 3 have died. I cant really do anything to change it but if I could I would make all the water go out and help people with destroyed homes. I dont support what happened to them.

I feel I did good on the speech. I could have dome better but I got nervous and kept saying the same sentence over and over. I can improve by next time trying to calm myself down and not get as nervous. all I talked about was moving to Georgia and hating my elementary school here but I wish I would have expanded on it. but overall I think I did decent.

The section I chose you talk/write about is the U.S Postal Service. The section told that the Postal Service is low on cash and is in a $9 billion dollar deficit. Many people have been using e-mail, myspace, and facebook as a cheaper alternative. this is making it difficult for the postal service to keep up with the government taxes and pay. i would change this by having people keep tradition and continue using the mail service as the one way of sending mail. I'm not supporting the deficit and I don't want the mail service tk go out of business so I don't support everything they're going through. I feel bad for them because they've been in business for so long then all this media stuff(Facebook, e-mail, myspace) become popular and they get screwed over.
